FRAG’s first event in 15 months took place on 26th June 2021 at Fotheringhay.

With landscape historian and archaeologist Dr Stephen Upex as our guide, we explored the clues which reveal much about the evolution of the village over the centuries. Conveniently, we were able to complete our discussions over an enjoyable lunch in the garden of the Falcon Inn.

There has been very positive feedback from participants. We hope to arrange a similar outdoor event at end of August or early September when we will visit the site of the Cistercian monastery at Sawtry.

Here are some comments from two new FRAG members who took part:

I just wanted to thank you for the kind welcome to the Archaeology Group yesterday morning! It was an excellent event and I enjoyed it very much. I met some lovely people! I look forward very much to future gatherings!

It was an incredibly interesting & insightful morning and I’m excited to join more talks & walks with FRAG. I hope you all enjoyed a lovely lunch and the afternoon in the sunshine.
