There is a national network of Young Archaeologists’ Clubs for children aged between 8 and 16.

Our local group is called “Fenland YAC” but it meets in Peterborough. During the summer we’re based at Flag Fen Bronze Age Centre and Archaeology Park near Peterborough or are out and about. When Flag Fen is closed for the winter months, we meet at Peterborough Museum.

We usually meet on the second Saturday of the month, but don’t meet in December or August. We sometimes put in extra meetings when we get the opportunity for some hands on digging or to visit a special event such as the Peterborough Heritage Festival.

Many of the leaders at Fenland YAC are also active within the Fane Road Archaeology Group and Helpston Archaeological Group.

Fenland YAC members have participated in community excavations including Fane Road and Peterborough Cathedral.

We take part in a wide range of activities. To have a look at some of the things YAC groups get up to and find out more about YAC have a look at the national website.
