The Nene Valley Archaeological Trust has published a video telling the story of the 2019 excavation at Durobrivae.
Apart from a limited investigation of the defences in the 1950s there had been no excavation within the walled town since that by Artis in the 19th century.
The latest excavation was undertaken by NVAT in conjunction with Cardiff University. It formed part of a programme of investigation which has also seen systematic geophysical surveys. There is concern that important archaeology is being destroyed by burrowing animals and this is one of the reasons why the project was supported by Historic England.
