On 15th and 16th June FRAG joined forces with MidNAG and Nene Valley Archaeological Trust to help spread the word about Peterborough’s wealth of history and archaeology.

Our combined stand received many visitors. Particularly popular with our younger audience were two “dig-boxes” which provided the opportunity to find 10 real artefacts. Hopefully, some of these archaeology recruits will be excavating around Peterborough in 10 – 20 years time!

We were located on Vivacity’s “Heritage Street” in St John’s Square (between Queensgate and Cowgate). This area has of course seen a lot of Peterborough history over the past thousand years. One visitor to our stand had been project manager for the refurbishment of Cathedral Square and had been present when a previously unknown cemetery was discovered. He was able to clarify exactly where the bodies were found!

Thank you to all the FRAG team who helped make light work of organising and manning the Heritage Festival stand.
