DESCRIPTION:The UK’s biggest road construction project involves excavation on a massive scale – 10 million m³. \nRoad widening\, new junctions and a 17-mile bypass south of Huntingdon carve through an archaeological  landscape covering all periods from the earliest hunter-gatherers to WWII. The investigation and mitigation work by MOLA is on a corresponding scale and is due to complete March 2018. \n  \n  \n\n537 trial trenches\n800 ha of potential archaeology\n80 archaeological sites\n130 staff\n\nMore than 25 settlements have been uncovered\, including: Iron Age\, Roman\, Saxon and Medieval sites. \nHelen O’Hara will provide an overview of the archaeology arising from the project. There will be specific focus on a Saxon and a Roman site. \nSpeaker: Helen O’Hara\, Senior Community Archaeologist\, MOLA Headland Infrastructure \nFREE ADMISSION\nBoth FRAG and non FRAG Members \nMOLA Headland Infrastructure is supporting this event as part of their community outreach programme
